Think about your experience using GALILEO to find sources. How was this different from how you have searched for information in the past? Explain how using specific search strategies and evaluating sources impacted the quality of what you found.

 Using GALILEO to find sources is different from how I have searched for information in the past, as it saves me time from have to sift through thousands of sources, in which many don't relate to my topic or are not reliable. Using specific search strategies allowed me to easily find sources that related to my topic, as well as find a specific type of source that was made within a certain timeframe. This helped me find higher quality sources than what I would have found through Google.

In class today, we began searching for our own sources individually using GALILEO.

Doing this has taught me about a different website I can use to conduct research, as well as how to, as well as shown me all the different types of sources I can use.

Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.

 One thing that makes me different from other people is that I feel like my personality and the way I act can change extremely based on the people I'm around and the environment. When I'm around my friends I can be super loud and I don't really act very shy, and on the outside it would seem like I'm and extrovert. If I;m alone though, and around a lot of people I don't know, I just like to stay quiet and I usually won't talk to anyone unless they talk to me first, and my social anxiety is basically on 10.  Today in class we worked on analyzing quotes from Emily Dickinsons poetry. Doing this has helped me understand how certain metaphors in poetry are used to convey the theme, when it wasn't as clear to me before.

People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

 One time I needed distance was when I felt overwhelmed by school and all my extracurricular activities and I decided to take a step back by spending more time alone and limiting distractions like social media. At first, it felt strange not being as involved, but it gave me space to actually think about what was stressing me out and what I really needed to focus on. During that time, I realized that I tend to take on too much at once and don’t always give myself time to do it all. Having that distance helped me clear my mind, organize my priorities, and come back feeling more in control. It taught me that stepping away isn’t a bad thing. Instead, it can be really important for understanding yourself and making better decisions. Today we read chapters 2 and 3 and took different quotes from each chapter to categorize into themes, along with an explanation for each.
